(2) LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Learning Objectives |
|
On the basis that knowledge of English is a necessary qualification for an aircraft engineer, this course is the basis for further improvement and development of students’ communimation skills in English and is a pre-required course for the attendance of the Aircraft English Terminology course. The purpose of the course is to enable students who have lost contact with the language to refresh their knowledge and to improve and develop their ability to communicate verbally and in writing. In addition to learning the structure of the English language which is the main goal of the course the students have the chance to improve their general linguistic skills by learning new vocabulary both general and technical. After successfully completing the course, students should be able to: · Read and understand simple texts both of general and technical content and answer simple comprehension questions. · Understand the everyday spoken language. · Express themselves orally using simple language properly and talk about simple everyday topics. · Use the written language correctly, compose simple texts in a sentence or paragraph level.

(3) COURSE CONTENT
1. Teaching the structure of the English language focusing on the grammatical structures that students do not use correctly. Use of specially modified texts for this purpose, with general, technical and professional content. 2. Practice of the four linguistic communication skills including: • Language function analysis with multiple linguistic activities • Reading comprehension activities • Listening comprehension activities • Speaking activities based on topics presented in the reading texts. • Written activities that aim at new vocabulary consolidation and essay writing. |
